But she figured out how we were gonna approach the 9/11 situation when we had to get back on air. Everybody on Saturday Night Live was like, “How…?” We were supposed to air September, but we didn’t, because that happened. So what are we gonna do? Tina came up with a brilliant idea. She said, “Bring Giuliani, and some of the firefighters and police officers on the stage, and let them tell America it’s time for us to laugh again.” And I will never forget that. She has my utmost respect for that. That was heavy, and it was deep, ‘cause I remember being on the stage with those dudes, and they had just came from Ground Zero, and I hugged one of the firemen, and I patted him, and dust came off. And everyone was crying, and it was heavy. Then we got down to making them laugh again. And she thought of that. And that’s what makes her unique.”
